UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens Fall Plant Sale: Oct 5-7, Parking Lot 5
Three days of native plant sales in support of the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens.
School of Arts and Architecture Lecture: Germane Barnes: Oct 9, 2pm, Storrs, Boardman Auditorium
Germane Barnes examines how the built environment influences the social and cultural experience.
Charlotte Harvest Exchange: Oct 11, 11am – 1pm, Belk Plaza
The Levine Scholars and Enactus introduce a farmer’s market series to campus offering free produce and other fresh goods.
Student Gathering: Oct 16, 6:15pm – 8:15pm, Student Union East Plaza
Learn about the student organizations that support sustainability efforts on campus and in the community. Learn about the student green fund (the Charlotte Green Initiative), and the types of projects they fund.
Golden Hack: Impact Weekend: Oct. 20-22, PORTAL Building
The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation hosts Golden Hack: Impact Weekend for students from all majors, backgrounds, and levels of experience. Come together for a common focus – to learn, brainstorm, and share ideas and creations.
Schul Conversation: Mixed Income Housing and Place-Based Initiatives: Oct. 26, 1:15pm, Online
In this first Schul Conversation, a panel will discuss the elements that build community and connections in mixed-income housing and place-based initiatives, and why that matters, as well as examine the barriers to cross-class and cross-race relationships.
Student Sustainability Summit: Nov. 4, 10am – 2pm
Join the Office of Sustainability and student leaders to learn more about campus sustainability issues and initiatives. Stimulating speakers , refreshments, and facilitated brainstorming of solutions.
OFF CAMPUS DURING October 2023:
Charlotte Monarch Celebration: Oct. 14, Reedy Creek Nature Preserve
A celebration on monarch butterflies and other pollinators. Learn how we can protect their habitats. Activities include crafts, seed giveaways, a monarch march around the pollinator garden, a photo booth with wings and other props and educational discussions about monarchs
Biketoberfest Oct. 22, Noon to 6:30 pm, Triple C Brewing, 2900 Griffith Street, Charlotte, NC
A family-friendly urban adventure benefitting Sustain Charlotte. This scavenger hunt-style walk-or-bike event welcomes participants to collect stamps at local businesses along the route for chances to win prizes! For pricing and to register, visit https://sustaincharlotte.org/events/biketoberfest/
